BCS School Council Information
The BCS School Council is a structured organization whose membership is composed of parents, school administration, staff members and community members. Parents & Guardians of current students are welcome to actively engage in monthly meetings where they work to effectively support and enhance student learning; to discuss school issues, provide advice on policy and procedures, and support school programs and special events.

Meetings are usually no more than 90 minutes and are held on the third Tuesday of the month throughout the school year @ 7pm.
All parents/guardians who attend have voting rights on decisions/initiatives which are being discussed/implemented and are not requird to hold an Executive position in order to do so.
Our purpose is to support the school community, and offer guidance by providing a voice for parents which will benefit all students.

Important Dates:
The first meeting of the 2022/23 School Year is scheduled for Tuesday, September 20th @ 7pm.
The AGM will be held on May 16, 2023 @ 7pm in the Learning Commons. Elections for the 2023/24 Executive will take place during the AGM.
World Teacher Day is Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
Education Week is May 1-5, 2023. The first Alberta School Week (Education Week) was held in 1928 between Dec 2nd to 8th. It's purpose then, as now, is to call attention to the importance of education and to show the public the good things happening in Alberta schools.
Teacher Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
Alberta School Councils' Association
ASCA is the provincial association representing parents on school council. Recognized as the voice of parents in public education, ASCA presents the parent perspective to government and education organizations in Alberta and provides resources, supports and services to enhance parent engagement and school council effectiveness.
Our membership to the association is provided by Rocky View Schools, and our local school trustees.
